Vishal Patel, MD

Dr. Patel was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and spent most of his life there. He attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of New Mexico. Go Lobos!

Dr. Patel has a lot of family in the San Antonio area and grew up spending many summers here, so it was exciting for his family when they were given the opportunity to make this their home after he finished his residency.

Dr. Patel comes from a business background in the hospitality and management industry. From early on, this instilled in me that the customer always comes first. He decided to use this core value that he learned from his parents and family and become a physician in order to put his patient’s values and needs first.

Urology was introduced to him early in medical school by his mentor. Dr. Patel immediately fell in love with the specialty because of the complexity of diseases treated by the Urologist and the long-term relationships that were developed between the physician and patient in the field. He finds it extremely rewarding to be able to treat both benign and oncologic conditions both medically and surgically. It is likewise very rewarding for him when he is able to restore or maintain the patient’s quality of life at the same time as treating them.

When he is not at work, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his wife Shivani and daughter Sanaiya, exercising, playing golf, cooking, and collecting bourbon.
